UN-Water Presents Key Messages on Water & Climate Change for COP 15On November 3rd in Barcelona, during the COP15 preparatory meetings of the UN Convention on Climate Change, a special ‘Water Day’ event will bring the attention to water as a critical and cross-cutting concern for climate change adaptation and mitigation.

UNW-DPC, the German Commission for UNESCO and the Geman IHP/HWRP National Committee are jointly organizing training programmes for decision makers from the Middle East and North Africa on Integrated Water Resources Management. The Training Programme addresses decision makers with a relevant university education, which at the time did not cover policy instruments such as IWRM. Thus, the Training Programme deals with topics such as network, teamrole and project management and multi-stakeholder cooperation.— Read more

From 14 to 18 September 2009, another regional workshop on “Capacity Development for Farm Management Strategies to Improve Crop-Water Productivity, using AquaCrop”, jointly organized by UNW-DPC, FAO and China Agricultural University, was held at the China Agricultural University in Beijing, China.— Read more

The United Nations University (UNU) is looking to fill the position of Vice-Rector in Europe/Director of the UNU Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS).

UNW-DPC and FAO, in partnership with the Soil, Water and Environment Research Institute (SWERI), are cooperating in the organization of a regional workshop on "Capacity Development for Farm Management Strategies to Improve Crop-Water Productivity using AquaCrop" from 25-29 October 2009, in Cairo, Egypt, while introducing a new model called AquaCrop. AquaCrop is the FAO tool to estimate yield response to water.— Read more
